Garage overhead storage systems are a great way to organize and clean up your garage so that you have more space for your cars and work area. They are a great way to lift everything off the ground and add extra walking area to the floor. Let’s take a moment to talk about some of the overhead options that you have it comes to storage and organization in the garage.
Garage Overhead Rack Storage
These are racks that can be bolted in to the framing in the ceiling whether they are rafters or floor choice and give you a flat surface to place boxes and other things off the ground and out of your way. The storage racks drop down from the ceiling about a foot to 2 feet depending on the space you need and will allow you to fit several items into boxes and near the ceiling. These can be especially great if your garage has high ceilings because it will not interfere with the head height. The important thing is to make sure that the overhead rack storage is securely screwed into the framing above so that there is no chance for it to fall down later on.
Garage Overhead Hoist
For those of you that have larger items that need to be stored in the garage there are several different types of overhead hoists that can help you get the item off the ground and out of your way. These can come in very handy when you have larger items like bicycles or kayaks and canoes that would take up a significant amount of the garage floor space if they were left on the ground. The hoist allows you to use a simple pulley system to raise up the item above your head level and open up the garage to better use.
